Hand Drawings
At Stone Detail Ltd, we understand the value of traditional craftsmanship and the clarity it brings to stonework design. Alongside our digital services, we provide accurate hand-drawn technical drawings for projects that benefit from a more traditional or bespoke approach. These drawings capture fine detail, highlight design intent, and offer a clear visual guide for both workshop and on-site teams. By combining skilled draughtsmanship with our industry expertise, we deliver drawings that are both functional and visually precise, bridging the gap between design concept and finished stonework
Royal Albert Hall
We were commissioned to produce bespoke hand-drawn technical drawings for replacement balusters as part of ongoing heritage works.
Working from on-site plastic template profiles taken directly from the existing stonework, we carefully interpreted the original contours by hand before translating them into precise drawings suitable for manufacture.
Particular attention was given to preserving the subtle variations and classical proportions inherent in the historic detailing.
The resulting drawings ensured an accurate and faithful reproduction of the original balusters, supporting the continued conservation of this iconic Victorian landmark.

Eton College
Commissioned to recreate a historic stone finial at Eton College, this project required the translation of on-site hand-drawn surveys into bespoke technical drawings for accurate stone reproduction.
Working directly from physical site observations, the original stonework geometry and ornamental language were carefully analysed and recorded. Traditional hand-drawing techniques were used to faithfully interpret the historic form, ensuring proportional accuracy and stylistic integrity. The resulting technical drawings provided a clear and practical guide for the stone mason, enabling an exact recreation of the original architectural feature.
The recreated finial seamlessly reinstated the architectural detail, preserving the historic character of the building while meeting modern conservation standards.
