We were commissioned to design and supply the stonework for new access ramps at the Gurkha Museum, enhancing accessibility while respecting the historic character of the building.
The project comprised both front and rear ramp installations.
At the front elevation, a central set of stone steps leads to the main entrance, flanked by symmetrical ramps to the left and right to provide inclusive access. The rear elevation features a single ramp alongside a complementary set of steps, ensuring practical circulation while maintaining architectural balance.
The scheme incorporates carefully detailed stone coping and ashlar walling to border the ramps and steps, creating a cohesive and durable finish. Particular attention was given to proportion, jointing, and material selection to ensure the new work integrates seamlessly with the existing historic fabric.
The completed design delivers access while preserving the dignity and heritage of this important cultural institution.
